Every car comes to the end of its life eventually and when that time comes, it's probably time for the scrapyard. And not only does a scrapyard help you remove a large item you no longer want, but it can also help you recover some money. When it comes to scrapping for money, you have two main options to choose from. These options are to sell the car as scrap as a whole or take it apart and sell parts individually. By selling individual parts, the seller can appeal to people who have specific issues with their vehicles. As such, they can sell the part for more individually than if it was sold as a package to a scrap yard. However, while you can get more cash this way, it is not always as easy as it sounds. For one thing, you'll need to know the approximate value of the parts and the demand for them to get an idea of how much you can sell them for, if at all. Then there's the matter of physically removing, cleaning, and storing the parts. Another drawback is that you will have to spend time and maybe money to find a buyer. For most people, it's a better idea to sell the car as a whole to a scrapyard because it's quicker, easier, and removes the risk of being left with unwanted parts. If you have any questions regarding scrapping your car, then give us a call and we will be happy to help.

Selling or buying a car isn't just a case of handing over the keys in exchange for money. You will also need to inform the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). Informing the DVLA of the change is a legal necessity and you will regret not doing so should the vehicle be involved in an accident. As a seller, failing to change the owner's details can leave you liable for anything that happens to the vehicle, regardless of any verbal agreements. The good news is that the process is straightforward and will usually cost you nothing. To change who owns the car, you will need to record the change on the vehicle's logbook, also known as the V5C. This can be done by posting the logbook and appropriate forms to the DVLA, while you can also do it online. Informing the DVLA online is usually the best option because it's easier, updates faster, and prevents anything from getting lost in the post. You will need the vehicle's 11-digit number on the V5C document handy when going online to change ownership. The DVLA will send a confirmation email, which can also be sent to the new owner provided you give their email address. While the process is fairly straightforward, it's still possible you might face an unexpected obstacle. If so, then give us a call and we will be more than happy to help you.
